Roof rack for Defender and Discovery 1 and 2 - developed for real expeditions

A roof rack for Defender and Discovery 1 and 2 is much more than just a transport surface on the vehicle roof. Especially on overland trips, expeditions and off-road tours, the design is crucial for safety, payload and handling. ENGAGE4X4 has therefore developed a roof rack system that is specially tailored to the requirements of the Land Rover Defender 90 and Discovery 1 and 2.

The Defender 90 in particular has very limited interior storage space. On longer journeys with additional equipment, spare parts, camping equipment or recovery equipment, capacity limits are quickly reached. A well thought-out roof rack creates urgently needed additional storage space without compromising the vehicle concept.

Weight-optimized design for maximum payload

A crucial aspect of any roof rack for Defender and Discovery 1 and 2 is its own weight. Many standard roof bars on the market weigh over 40 kilograms when unloaded. This significantly reduces the permissible roof load and has a negative impact on the center of gravity and driving dynamics.

The ENGAGE4X4 roof rack for Defender 90 was deliberately designed to be weight-optimized. The aim was to achieve the highest possible payload with minimum tare weight. Thanks to the use of high-strength aluminum and an intelligent profile structure, this system is one of the lightest in its class. The low unladen weight considerably reduces the permanent load on the roof and chassis.

Every kilogram counts, especially in off-road use, where the vehicle is subject to extreme twisting and movement. A lightweight roof rack ensures more stable handling and less stress on the body structure.

Multifunctional system with airline milling

The roof rack for Defender and Discovery 1 and 2 has integrated airline system millings. These enable the flexible use of quick-change fittings, lashing points and threaded inserts. This allows equipment to be attached or repositioned quickly and securely.

Whether roof tent, spare wheel, canisters, sand trays or transport boxes - they can be attached without the need for complex special solutions. The modular concept makes the roof rack a genuine multifunctional platform for expeditions and everyday use.

Flexible positioning of the roof rack feet

Another advantage of the system is the variable positioning of the roof rack feet. These are height-adjustable and can be mounted on any cross strut. This allows the roof rack to be optimally adapted to different vehicle variants and individual superstructures.

This flexibility is particularly important for Defender and Discovery models, as roof shapes and accessories can vary greatly. The height-adjustable feet enable precise alignment and ensure even load distribution.

High-quality production in Germany

The ENGAGE4X4 roof rack for Defender and Discovery 1 and 2 is manufactured in Germany. Only high-quality aluminum alloys are used, which guarantee high strength and low weight. The precise workmanship ensures a stable, low-torsion construction.

It is supplied in individual parts, which makes transportation and handling easier. Assembly is uncomplicated and can be carried out using standard tools. All components are designed to fit together perfectly and form a stable overall unit.

Optimized for long journeys and heavy loads

Reliable equipment is particularly important on long-distance journeys. A roof rack not only has to carry weight, but also withstand constant vibrations, wind load and changing weather conditions. The ENGAGE4X4 system was designed precisely for these requirements.

The weight-optimized design leaves more room for actual payload. This is particularly important for the Defender 90, whose roof load is limited due to its design. Instead of transporting unnecessary dead weight, the load capacity is available for useful equipment.

A roof rack for Defender and Discovery 1 and 2 from ENGAGE4X4 is therefore not a simple storage area, but a well thought-out expedition platform. Lightweight, stable, modular and developed with practicality in mind - for vehicles that are used all over the world.

Advantages of the ENGAGE4X4 expedition roof rack system at a glance

  • design
  • multifunctional
  • High quality
  • modular design
  • low shipping costs
  • easy assembly
  • high stability
  • The low weight of around 25kg

The roof rack feet are height-adjustable and can be attached to any cross strut of the roof rack.

It is not uncommon for roof racks for the Land Rover Defender 90 to weigh more than 40 kg when unloaded, so that the roof rack should normally only be loaded with 35 kg. During development, the aim was to achieve a weight-optimized design so that the roof rack is the lightest of its kind.
