The Land Rover Defender is equipped ex works with an undersized braking system. At a speed of 100 km/h to a standstill, a standard Land Rover Defender requires a distance of 54m. With the ENGAGE4X4 brake upgrade kit, braking performance is significantly increased.

The brakes on heavy expedition or work vehicles deteriorate very quickly on mountain passes or in the mountains. The reason for this is the poor heat dissipation of the brake disks, the brake caliper, the material of the brake pads and the contact pressure of the brake caliper pistons. The ENGAGE brake discs have a 25 mm larger diameter and are 4 mm thicker than the original brake discs. Thanks to the high-quality material (G600), the durability of the disc is significantly higher. The heat dissipation of the ENGAGE4X4 brake discs has been significantly increased.
Brake system for heavy Land Rover Defender and Rallye Raid vehicles
The ENGAGE4X4 high-performance brake system was specially developed for heavy vehicles. Particular emphasis was placed on the compact design of the callipers so that it fits under every 16" aluminum rim. Another important criterion for the ENGAGE4X4 Defender brake system is the significantly longer service life. The original brake calipers of the Defender are very susceptible to dirt and corrosion of the brake pistons. Sand, water, mud and salt can easily damage the original brake caliper pistons, resulting in poorer braking performance. ENGAGE brake calipers are milled from high-strength aluminum (Fortal 7075 T6) and are fitted with stainless steel brake pistons and dust sleeves. The calipers are even considered seawater-resistant and are used in amphibious vehicles.

A better braking effect of 20 to 26% was tested, depending on the vehicle (weight, tires, surface). As well as a 40% higher load capacity. The brake system of the Land Rover Defender should also be adapted to changes to the vehicle, such as additional weight, increased performance, roof rack, etc. to ensure safety on the road.
